A Single Flower - HD Music Video

If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly then our whole life would change so spoke the Buddha.

The Buddha's Face video workshop has taken that simple concept and created a multimedia presentation around this beautiful and inspiring quote.

Using time lapse flower photography and excerpts from Bernardo Bertolucci's The Little Buddha combined with photos and a compilation of combat footage from the Iraq war we have tried to contrast the words and wisdom of the enlightened one with those actions that result when we forget the beauty and majesty of the world in which we live.

A continuing episode from the Buddha's Face Buddhism 101 Project the most comprehensive and entertaining source of Buddhist related information on the web.

The Buddha's Enlightenment

He sat beneath a sacred fig tree (Ficus religiosa), which would be known hereafter as the Bodhi Tree, and began meditation.

Buddhist mythology represents this as a great battle with demons symbolized by Mara a demon of destruction and was followed by an attempt to seduce him in his mind. However he resisted all these challenges and finally it is said Mara succumbed to the greater strength and discipline of the Prince – he was stilled and as the morning star rose as night ended he realised he had reached enlightenment and become a Buddha.

For people not born Buddhists it can be difficult to understand the teachings and philosophy of Buddhism. In the West we belong and seek attachment ,wealth and the cult of the individual are dominant and this is in opposition to the teachings of the Buddha. That's where the popular medium of the movies and in particular Hollywood can help - they can feature, pain, loss, desire and attachment thus these common themes relate directly to the viewer about the major themes of Buddhism.

"There is nothing real about film. Nothing. Even the light particles that project the film can't be proven to exist. Nothing is there. "
