Tulku - The Real Little Buddha
If you have seen the Bernardo Bertolucci film The Little Buddha you will have seen how the Tibetan Buddhist tradition believes that great leaders (including the Dalai Lama) are re-incarnated and that a developing child can be found to have the spirit of the deceased spiritual leader. In the 1970's American born Tulkus were 'discovered'. In this fascinating trailer for a film which has not yet been released Tulku , an American Caucasian and his family believes - of their own volition - that he is such a re-incarnated spirit and whilst is a practising Buddhist refuses to don the robes and adopt what the monks consider to be his destiny. A failed Tulku - interesting !
