Thai Buddha and Buddhist Amulets

Any visitor to Thailand cannot help but notice the widespread practice of Thais to wear amulets around their necks or display them prominently in cars and homes. They are though to protect the user from harm and provide good luck to the wearer. This is a multi million baht business with some of the oldest and most revered examples fetching 10s of thousand of pounds. As part of the Buddha's Face Buddhism 101 Project we document the history, symbolism and practice behind this fascinating tradition.
