The Garden of a Thousand Buddha Statues - Part 2

The Garden of a Thousand Buddha Statues being constructed in Montana and mentioned in a previous Buddha face blog entry - The garden of a Thousand Buddhas now has over 650 Buddha statues and will be visited of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama probably in 2012 to inaugurate the garden when it will have the final tally of 1000 Buddhas for which it is aiming.

Buddhists from around the world have sent donations and the land is unusual for being located on an American Indian Reservation and that Mr. Sang-ngag,the project's founder - who is a high-ranking Buddhist priest has been able to buy the land to enable the project to go ahead.

After initial suspicion there is a shared kinship between the two cultures - as a Tibetan in exile he has previously been incarcerated in a Chinese prison for 9 years and the tragic history of the Native American Indians powerfully resonates in the dry, big sky land of rural plains America with that of a culture from across the world.
