The Buddha Tarot - Divining the Future

Following on from blogs about Buddha board games – The Buddha Wheel and Buddhist Top Trumps I thought I would rummage around on the web to see if there were any other Buddhist games available. It was then I came across this very interesting card set - the Buddhist Tarot.

This is a fine work of distinctive spare elegance by the artist Robert Place. The Buddha Tarot links the Major Arcana with the story of Siddhartha's path towards enlightenment. The minor arcana suites are Vajras, Jewels, Double Vajras and Lotuses.

The images on the cards are representative of his literal life path, but also with the symbolism of who and what Buddha was and still is today. Featured are the four signs that Buddha was to be faced with (old age, sickness, death and the life of ascetic), the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path (which led the way to enlightenment).

“You cannot travel the path until you have become the path itself” Buddha
